After being made redundant from a proper job in engineering design, founder Ian Burton, having had an interest in outdoor sports all his life, spent most of his redundancy money on training and qualification to instruct the commonly available outdoor activities. Whilst still in full time employment he also organized outdoor based training exercises for co employees and worked part time for other outdoor providers.
We now have two distinct branches to the business; “adventure activities and “team activities – but that’s not to say our team days are dull! We pride ourselves on giving great value for money and no nonsense or waffle.
Unlike some activity companies, we use good quality equipment that we’d be happy to use ourselves. You always have an instructor with you – no sending you off on your own – and we are (unlike some) fully licensed and insured.
To achieve this we rely on great people working with us. As well as our regular staff with specialist skills we use a lot of freelance instructors who are experts in their fields. This means we can bring to you the right person for the job with both the experience and knowledge so you get the best possible day. Our outdoor instructors are all first aid qualified, CRB checked and qualified in their chosen field of work. Why have a dog and bark yourself?
We run most of our activities from various locations around Cheddar in Somerset. Here we have access to the beautiful countryside of the Mendip Hills including the caves and limestone rock faces for which the area is famous.
We have portable equipment and meet you at the venue best suited for the activity, and can also bring activities to you, subject to suitable venues.
We provide all protective equipment and use nationally qualified instructors. We also have a luxury 25 bed bunkhouse accommodation – please ask us for details or go to www.swallet.co.uk
“The whole experience was great. He was very helpful and provided us full information we need to know. Very humble and friendly person. You can trust him. He is best at what he does.”
